The problem
Many different design systems running in parallel & teams could not reliably find the right file
When I joined many design systems were running in parallel across different Google Search teams. Every UI decision got debated. The component library, meant to unblock teams, blocked them instead.

Result: 10+ design systems running in parallel across search
Solution
Condensed 10+ systems into one cohesive source of truth improving efficiency
Instead of adding another system to the pile, I went the other way: I pulled all 10+ apart, found what was actually shared versus duplicated, and rebuilt it as one governed source of truth the library the original one was always meant to be.

Key Learnings
-
Imposter syndrome is a gift. It means that you're surrounded by a crowd of people who are actively pushing you to feel better.
-
Detail is important providing detailed components, files and content is important especially when working with engineers
